Nested PCR amplification of a subgenomic region of cDNA for hepatitis B virus, South Africa. Reverse transcribed, DNase I–treated cDNA products were amplified by PCR, and amplicons were resolved by electrophoresis on a 1% agarose gel containing ethidium bromide.
