Exponential-phase cultures were exposed to the antibiotics indicated for up to 12 h, and whole culture β-galactosidase activities were determined. The exposure levels were cefuroxime 0.625 g/L (MICx1/16), furazolidone 8 g/L (MICx1/4), trimethoprim 0.6 g/L (1xMIC) and ofloxacin 0.1 g/L (2xMIC).
