The effect of treatment on the relative frequency of HIV-positive persons (non-AIDS), and persons with AIDS in a steady state population of 10,000. In the untreated population, the duration of AIDS is 2 years, 104 weeks, before the patient dies, whereas in the treated population (*), it is 6 years, 312 weeks.
