aSera from Ichtiman and Elin-Pelin were examined by complement fixation test, remaining sera by microagglutination. All sera were from patients with bronchopneumonia, except those collected in Varna, which were from patients with acute respiratory flulike symptoms. Sera with titers > 10 in either test were considered serologically positive. Acute Q-fever diagnosis was based on seroconversion or fourfold rise of antibody titers.
