Six Sprague-Dawley rats (B430–5) were infected with a 104.5 50% rat infectious dose of rat HEV and tested 2×/wk for evidence of infection and hepatitis. PCR results were positive for only half a week in 5 of the 6 rats. Pre, preinfection.
