Manuscript Submission

Emerging Infectious Diseases is an open access, public domain journal. The journal does not charge fees for submitting or processing articles (or require fees or registration to read its content).

To submit a manuscript, access Manuscript Central, the Emerging Infectious Diseases manuscript submission site, and follow the directions there to access your account or create an account.

Include a cover letter indicating the proposed category of the article (e.g., research, dispatch) and verifying all authors have seen and approved the final manuscript. Complete the Author Checklist: PDF (41 KB, 1 page).

Emerging Infectious Diseases strictly enforces word limits on all articles. Allow some flexibility by submitting manuscripts that have counts 100–200 words below the requirements. Doing so allows you to include information requested by reviewers when you revise your manuscript.

After you have received acknowledgment of manuscript receipt, use your assigned manuscript number in all correspondence.

Submit manuscripts online through Manuscript Central only. Manuscripts (initial submissions as well as revisions) submitted by email will be returned.
