Pleural fluid samples were collected in Barcelona from October 1, 2003, through June 30, 2006, and in Seville and Malaga from January 1, 2005, through June 20, 2006. Serotypes were determined by Quellung reaction or PCR testing or predicted based on complete multilocus sequence typing, as described in the text. Boldface represents a statistically significant result.
