Figure 2. Histopathologic analysis of a skin biopsy specimen from a 65-year-old woman infected with orf virus during Aïd-el-Fitr festival, France, 2017. The specimen shows epidermal hyperplasia with acantolysis and papillomatosis, extensive hyperkeratosis, spongiform degeneration and vacuolated cells, and inflammatory infiltration in the dermis, predominantly by histiocytes and lymphocytes. Hematoxylin and eosin stain, original magnification x100.
