Trends of smoothed CLI response rate to the Angelenos in Action community-driven, text message–based COVID-19 surveillance system used in Los Angeles County, California, USA, 2020–2024, and trimmed and smoothed Los Angeles County SARS-CoV-2 RNA wastewater concentrations during January 9, 2022–April 6, 2024. A response was designated as a CLI if the respondent indicated they were sick and answered yes to both symptom-specific questions. Concentrations are normalized against values of a ubiquitous virus to account for stool flow rates and then multiplied by a factor of 106 (data not shown). Pearson correlation coefficient = 0.861.
