Influenza Spotlight
Influenza is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses and is spread mainly by droplets made when people with influenza cough, sneeze, or talk. Most people who get influenza recover in a few days to less than two weeks, but some people develop complications (such as pneumonia), some of which can be life-threatening and result in death.
Influenza viruses typically circulate annually in the United States, most commonly from the late fall through the early spring. The best way to prevent influenza is by getting vaccinated each year.
