Ticks were collected at veterinary clinics across the country during 2021–2023 and shipped to the Oklahoma State University College of Veterinary Medicine Show Us Your Ticks program (https://www.showusyourticks.org), where staff morphologically identified ticks and stored in 70% ethanol at −20°C until dissection and DNA extraction in this study.
